I praise the Lord for the Beauty and Majesty of His creation!

I praise the Lord for the Beauty and Majesty of His creation! I praise Him for His people and His beautiful world.  The rest of orientation was wonderful. I was able to spend some time hiking the surrounding mountains with a few people. We followed a trail up to a beautiful overlook and we decided not to go back along the same trail, but blaze a new one. We had a lot of fun exploring new areas of the wood as we headed back to the camp. God has truly sent some wonderful people to serve within the state. One statistic you may like to learn is that in CA approx. 38 million people approx. 33 million do not know the Lord. This great number of lost people leads to call of great urgency to share the truth of Jesus Christ! After orientation on the way to Sacramento our supervisor Pastor Jeff Coburn took the four of us (Hana, Maggie, Kelsey and I) through Yosemite National Park. It was gorgeous! The power of the waterfalls that spotted the beautiful glacially carved valley made me want to dance around. I was able to get a good many pictures hopefully I'll be able to get them up soon.
On Saturday we had a block party to promote the upcoming VBS at El Camino Baptist Church. It was the first block party for this church to have. There was a pretty good turnout in my opinion. I ran one of the children’s games, which allowed me to get to know a lot of the children and their families. It is a beautiful church family filled with many different cultures and ethnicities. They have a sweet playful love of a family and accepted Hana and I quickly. (Maggie and Kelsey are serving at Rio Linda this week without us.) Last night a few of the young adults picked up Hana and me and took us to explore Old Sacramento and the capital. We had a lot of fun being part of their friend group for the night. Also, last night we met our host family for the week, Mr. & Mrs. Kells. They are a wonderful older couple. Max (the husband) is a retired pastor and they have such a welcoming home and heart. Today we joined El Camino in worship, which was different from my home church, but just as meaningful. After church we came back to the house with them and a friend of theirs whose wife is out of town. Mrs. Eloise made us spaghetti, pizza, salad, sweet tea, and apple pie. It was such a wonderful meal and as it was wrapping up she put in a tape of her boys singing in a gospel quartet. I really feel at home here. I know they love the Lord and love their families.
We really don’t know what the schedule is for the rest of the week. We do know that there is VBS, but we don’t know what we’ll be doing to help, but God will provide. I thought I was flexible and open minded before, but the Lord is teaching me how to be more so every day.

A couple prayer requests I want to lift up are:
April & Mark-a young couple in the church had both of their cars stolen last night
VBS for Hana, Maggie, Kelsey, & me- that no matter what task we are given be it great or small we do it to the Glory of God the Father
