Not in vain!

Last week we worked at Signal Heights Baptist Church.  It was a wonderful experience.  Although we did not have the numbers we had at El Camino, we did have a great time of impacting the lives of young people.  Hana and I were able to work with the youth.  It was such a rewarding time.  We had 5-7 youth each night.  Three girls and two guys.  One of the guys was down syndrome and so precious.  His sweet spirit along with the willingness of all the students to learn and participate created a great time for Hana and I. There were five different verses that were pulled out as the focus for the week.  Psalm 139:14, Jeremiah 29:11, Phil 2:5, James 1:5, 1 Peter 5:7.  The one that sticks with me the most is Psalm 139:14 "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."  We are all unique and in His great power He has made us all.  Not only are we His creation, but we are remarkable and wonderful.
Another opportunity we've had was to serve at a fourth of July block party at the church.  The greatest difference I've noticed between Sacramento and Brandon is the diversity of people.  We had four or five different church families along with neighbors and friends.  Altogether there were 120+ people.  We all gathered together enjoyed fireworks, snow cones, and other desserts.  It was amazing how in the body of Christ and under the banner of love people of all backgrounds become united.
This week we've been seeing some of the sights.  Tuesday we went to Muir Woods and San Francisco.  It was a wonderfully blessed day! Wednesday we went to Lake Tahoe.  It was soo beautiful.  Jeff (our supervisor) mentioned that the last few times he had gone to Lake Tahoe he was not able to find places to park.  I knew that we really wanted to get some photo memories, so I started praying.  The Lord provided two great  parking places and breathtaking views.  Praise Him!!
This morning we went up to Signal Heights to get a few things done, but we received blessings beyond what we expected.  There were a man leading a meeting there working toward church planting.  Usually there are five+ men to attend, but there were many conflicts, so only one showed up.  That one that showed up through was a blessing.  He came with news of the conflicts and this word of encouragement from Corinthians.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor is not in vain.
Know that no matter what you do to bring glory to our Lord and Savior in ministry He will not let your work be in vain.  Therefore keep running the race and run it to the best of your ability with all of God's power and the attitude that of Christ Jesus.
